Minnesota Wild & Mission Foods Fresh Faces in the State of Hockey

Congratulations to Kayla Borman of the Minnesota Special Hockey Polars Team for being selected as one of the honored players in the Minnesota Wild/Mission Foods Fresh Faces of Hockey contest. Kayla will be honored during the second period of the Minnesota Wild Game on Tuesday March 23, 2010 with a photo montage on the JumboTron, along with a short bio of her on-ice and off-ice accomplishments. 

Coach Chris Winkel will accompany Kayla and her family.

Congratulations to Kayla and her many fans!

End of season game and banquet - TIME AND LOCATION CHANGE

We've changed locations and times for the end-of-season game.

Jane Cashin is taking orders for MN Special Hockey clothing.

This older (stingers/polars) flyer shows what the gear looks like and helps with sizing, but don't use it for ordering.

Game and directions: Polars vs. Stingers, Ridder Arena Sunday 12/21 1:30pm

The Ridder Arena is sometimes used by the Gophers! So it's a great venue. Directions can be found at ArenaMaps.com | Ridder Arena. You can see the arena itself in Google Street View or Google Map/Street View.

The game starts at 1:30 pm on 12/21 so being there 45 minutes. early will ensure that everyone is dressed and ready to go.

If you can not make the game please send Coach Rick an e-mail (rcarlson@veeco.com) or call him (612-308-3300) so he can prepare line combinations.

The games are always more fun for everyone if there are lots of fans in the stands so I encourage you to invite your family, friends, neighbors … anyone you can think of to come and cheer us on! 

One more thing … we have an exciting volunteer opportunity!  Rick was able to obtain a mascot outfit for our team.  He is looking for someone to wear it at the games.  This volunteer will have to be a good skater, outgoing and able to mingle effectively with our players.  If you have any interest or know of anyone who might, please contact him for more information.

Driving Instructions:

From I-94: I-94 to Huron Blvd. exit 235B. North on Huron Blvd. and it becomes SE 4th St. Ridder Arena will be on the left.

From I-35W Southbound: South on I-35W to the 4th St exit 18 (towards University Ave.). Come off the exit ramp and follow the frontage road to University Ave. Left on University Ave. and go about 1 mile. Arena is on the left.

MN Special Hockey schedules are available

Several teams have schedules up:

• The South Stingers: First practice is Nov 16.
• East Eagles
• North Polars

In addition to these official schedules there's an unofficial Google Calendar version. I've entered Stingers data to this calendar; if anyone would like to add Eagles or Polars data I can explain how to do it. I did the Stingers because my family uses Google Calendars so the data I enter here also shows up on our family calendar.

St. Paul Saints adventure Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Join us on Tuesday, August 19th, 2008 as we enjoy a picnic dinner and then sit back to watch our St. Paul Saints take on the Lincoln Salt Dogs. Dinner will be served inside the park beginning at 6pm, with a game time start of 7:05pm. Please RSVP if you would like to attend, and the number of tickets you will need, to your respective team coach. Cost for this event will be $8 per person, which will include your meal and ticket into the game. Hope to see you all there!

I've finally edited and uploaded the game and party photos. They're in our 2007-2008 photo album, starting here. There are about 140 photos.

If you run your mouse over a photo being displayed, you'll see a menu that allows you save a copy to your personal computer. You can also order prints.

Final game and end of year party today

The final 2008 game is today March 2008, per the South Stingers Schedule 2007-2008 and a recent post:

• On Sun March 16th there's an All Teams MN Special Hockey end-of-season skate and party. See the flyer for more details.

Stingers Game One, Photos Jan 6th, Gear orders

Our first game will be the Stingers vs. the Polars starting at 6:40 p.m. at the Blaine Schwann Super Rink (directions):

• Everyone should use the rear entrance for rinks 5 & 6.
• Sunshine Photo will be taking the pictures.
• Polars should be at the rink, dressed and ready for pictures by 5:30.
• Stingers should be at the rink, dressed and ready for pictures by 6:00.

Stingers clothing is now available for order. Jane Cashin will place the order Mon Jan 14th. Print and complete the order forms to get your gear.
