MN Disabled Hockey Night at a Wild game in St. Paul - RSVP by Sunday, September 21st,

Minnesota Special Hockey Players and Families: As summer ends, the Hockey Season is getting geared up! One of the highlights of our year is the ability for MN Special Hockey players and families to participate in the MN Disabled Hockey Night at a Wild game in St. Paul. In addition, this night is also a GREAT fund raising opportunity for MN Special Hockey via our support of program sales. We have a couple opportunities for MN Special Hockey players and families to participate and volunteer. All people participating will also get free tickets to this game! PLEASE NOTE that this year the event is on a SATURDAY!

Event Details:

Date: Saturday, September 27th before 5:00. This time is when everyone must arrive to get into the arena. Late arrivals may miss the opportunity. The game starts at 7:00.

Where: Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN.

What: MN Wild vs. The Winnipeg Jets

What we need:

1. We are in need of approx. 25 volunteers to sell programs at this event. We need a combination of players and non-players (including adults!) Selling programs is a lot of fun. Once completed (around the end of the 1st period), you get to sit down and enjoy the rest of the game!

2. Once again, MN Special Hockey will be showcased via a short exhibition game to be played in between periods (not sure which one). For this we will need 12 players and 3 coaches.

Next Steps: Please respond back to me if you are interested in volunteering / participating in this GREAT event:

Specifically, I need to know if you are interested in volunteering to sell programs at this event and also if you are interested in skating (Players and Coaches) between periods. Once all volunteers have been gathered, we will be putting together a list of those that will be skating and those who will be selling programs. In the event we have more than 12 players wanting to skate, the criteria we will use to select the skaters will be as follows:

1. If they did not skate at this event last year.
2. If they have never skated at this event in prior years.
3. Draw names from a hat.

Each volunteer that participates as a program seller at this event will receive one free ticket to the game. Each MSHA Player / Coach that skates in this event will receive one free ticket plus one ticket for an additional family member. As with prior years, we MAY have the opportunity to receive additional tickets. Please also include how many tickets you would ideally like to have for your family. This is a Saturday game, extra tickets might be hard to get for family members. Once we have all of the info, we will communicate tickets details.

Please let me know by email before Sunday, September 21st, if you can join us for this fun night at the MN Wild!

Thanks!

Amazon just donated $250 to Minnesota Special Hockey - in my name

All I did was use smile.amazon.com when shopping on Amazon. Once I’d set it up (see link) Amazon even reminded me to change URLs when I went to buy something.

We could all do this.

Shop at smile.amazon.com and get free money for Minnesota Special Hockey

Amazon.com is launching a charitable program — somewhat similar to what Target does.

Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to the charitable organization of your choice.
AmazonSmile is the same Amazon you know. Same products, same prices, same Amazon Prime benefits.
Support your charitable organization by starting your shopping at smile.amazon.com.

They say it doesn’t affect prices at all, but if you use the URL smile.amazon.com you will be asked to choose a charitable org. They search the federal listings, so Minnesota Special Hockey is an option:

More details

To shop at AmazonSmile simply go to smile.amazon.com from the web browser on your computer or mobile device. You may also want to add a bookmark to AmazonSmile to make it even easier to return and start your shopping at AmazonSmile.

Tens of millions of products on AmazonSmile are eligible for donations. You will see eligible products marked “Eligible for AmazonSmile donation” on their product detail pages. Recurring Subscribe-and-Save purchases and subscription renewals are not currently eligible.

On your first visit to AmazonSmile, you need to select a charitable organization to receive donations from eligible purchases before you begin shopping. We will remember your selection, and then every eligible purchase you make on AmazonSmile will result in a donation.

Yes, you can change your charity any time. Your AmazonSmile purchases after the change count towards your newly selected charity. To change your charity, sign in to smile.amazon.com on your desktop or mobile phone browser and simply select “Change your Charity” in “Your Account.”

If I represent a charitable organization, how can I learn more about registering my organization for AmazonSmile?
Go to org.amazon.com to learn how to register your organization to receive donations.

The trick will be remembering to always use the URL smile.amazon.com. That’s going to take some work…

MN Hockey has been good to us. Susie Miller and Jane Cashin are asking for volunteers to help out ...

As a player of MN Special Hockey we hope you have an AMAZING experience on and off the ice. We feel we are a successful program, we have had a lot of success because we receive a lot of support from the State of Minnesota Hockey Community. As we were getting started we hit a lot of brick walls, however everyone time we hit a brick wall, someone from the "State of Minnesota Hockey Community" came through and knocked it down. It might have been an individual who stepped up to coach a team, it might have been a business who donated money, it might have been an organization that let us buy and even donated ice. Without the support we have received we quite honestly would probably not exist today. Periodically we ask for support from all of YOU. They like to see the skaters that are playing hockey, they want to know that they are giving to a great program that has great benefits. People who give us money prefer to see you, our players, at their events not one of us!...

.. We will be looking for a couple volunteers for the MN Hockey Annual Golf Tournament .... We might need just a couple people to help out and show our support for Minnesota Hockey. If you are interested, please contact Jane Cashin at jocashin@comcast.net.

Summer Celebration at Edinborough Park (7700 York Ave. S., Edina) Friday 7/22 from 6-8pm

Fundraising - sell chocolate bars

Susie Miller writes ...

Besides giving us free ice time (see regularly updated tournament post) the Anoka Area HOckey Association has given us 55 boxes of 50 candy bars which are sold for $1 each.

We will retain all proceeds; it's 100% profit with the ability to make $2750 for our program. We are hoping people would be willing to help sell the candy bars at ...

1. This weekend is the youth hockey state tournaments. There are tournaments all over the metro area. If you are able to spare a couple hours at any

point over the weekend visiting one of the rinks it would be a great way to make money for the program, PLUS market the program to other MN Hockey players.

2. Take a box to see at work, to family, at a local business, anywhere you feel you could.

If you think you could help with this please contact Susie Miller at mnspecialhockey@gmail.com or call 612-325-3392. I will be happy to deliver

or meet somewhere to deliver the boxes. Please, please, please help if you can.

Section 108 Golf Tournament - Aug 28 Highland National Golf Course

The Section 108 Golf Tournament is right around the corner. This year the tournament has moved to Highland National Golf Course in St. Paul and will be held on Saturday, August 28.

MN Special Hockey is the sole benefactor of this tournament and they have been extremely generous over the past four years. This year we have taken on a more active role for the tournament and we are looking for participation on many levels.
  1. Golfers, please send this link on to everyone and anyone you know. Golfers may still register today as an individual or as a foursome! We need more golfers!!!!!
  2. Volunteers, we will need volunteers for registration, serving lunch, player interaction, raffle sales, etc... we will need lots of help. Please email Susie Miller at mnspecialhockey@gmail.com to volunteer.
Section 108 is a group of guys who are MN Wild Section 108 season ticket holders. They have teamed up with the Eagle Street Grille to put on a great tournament for us.

Thank you in advance for supporting this program. This Tournament isvital to MN Special Hockey as an organization. Without the financial support from this tournament we would be unable to have such a
successful program. The first year they donated $1200 - the exact amount needed for us to be able to upgrade our jerseys to the quality ones we use today. Last year, they donated $10,800.
